Tim Brosnan, Bernadette Sunderland y su esposo Simon, Fit Val y su esposo Kenny. Billie-Jean Cini y su hermano Danny, Anthony O’Callaghan y su esposa Sharon, Sue, Sally y Tina son algunos de los vecinos de Orihuela Costa que han tomado la iniciativa de limpiar sus calles.
Sin otro afán reivindicativo que lo que supone la propia iniciativa, han recogido «basura fuera de su sitio» desde el restaurante chino Fa Li Du, en ambas direcciones en el canal, alrededor de Los Dolses, la carretera principal en Av de Las Brisas, la carretera que va del restaurante hasta Dialprix y la gasolinera Repsol hasta la rotonda.
Tras la tarea, tomaron un café en alguno de los bares de la zona mientras comentaban, entre otras cosas, la espectacular subida de la tasa de basura que aplica Orihuela desde este año. Como no tienen muchas fé en que la cosa mejore, ya están preparando otras quedada para el mes de junio, donde esperan contar con más voluntarios.
Hemos cogido prestadas algunas de las fotos que han colgado en las redes sociales, donde se puede apreciar que lejos de estar enfadados parecen muy felices por el trabajo realizado. Los organizadores del evento ha dado las gracias a los que participaron. Desde aquí, solo queda decir a todos: muchas gracias por vuestro ejemplo y civismo.

Orihuela Costa residents organise to clean up their streets
Tim Brosnan, Bernadette Sunderland and her husband Simon, Fit Val and her husband Kenny. Billie-Jean Cini and his brother Danny, Anthony O’Callaghan and his wife Sharon, Sue, Sally and Tina are some of the Orihuela Costa residents who have taken the initiative to clean up their streets.
With no other vindictive aim than that of the initiative itself, they have collected rubbish out of place from the Chinese restaurant Fa Li Du, in both directions on the canal, around Los Dolses, the main road in Av de Las Brisas, the road from the restaurant to Dialprix and the Repsol petrol station to the roundabout.
After the task, they had a few coffees in one of the bars in the area while discussing, amongst other things, the spectacular increase in the rubbish tax that Orihuela is applying from this year. As they have little faith that things will improve, they are already preparing another meeting for the month of June, where they hope to have more volunteers.
We have borrowed some of the photos they have posted on social media, where you can see that far from being angry, they seem very happy with the work they have done. The organisers of the event have thanked those who participated. From here, it only remains to say to everyone: thank you very much for your example and civility.
