La falta de control sobre las colonias felinas en Orihuela Costa ha saltado a la prensa alemana (COST NACHRICHTEN – NOTICIAS DE COSTA). con el siguiente titular en su tirada de papel para toda la costa mediterránea : “ keine kontrolle über katzen – Sin control sobre los gatos ”. La asociación  CAT-OC Colonias Felinas Orihuela Costa (Ascfoc) lamenta la deplorable imagen que Orihuela Costa esta dando sobre el control ético de las colonias felinas.

Hace apenas un mes CAT-OC Colonias Felinas Orihuela Costa (Ascfoc) denuncio la falta de colaboración del ayuntamiento oriolano, al que acusan de incumplir la la Ley Nacional de Bienestar Animal 7/2023, en vigor desde septiembre de 2023. En aquel entonces ya manifestaron que “A pesar de los esfuerzos de los voluntarios, la descoordinación municipal y la mala praxis en las esterilizaciones gestionadas por el ayuntamiento han puesto en riesgo la salud de los animales y el trabajo realizado durante años”.

Las denuncias no han hecho mella en el departamento de Sanidad del Ayuntamiento, desde donde no se ha recibido respuesta a la decisión de los voluntarios de suspender en octubre las esterilizaciones en protesta por las inaceptables condiciones en las que se llevaban a cabo. Desde otoño, el ayuntamiento solo ha ofrecido esterilizar a 28 gatos en toda Orihuela Costa, argumentando que se está centrando en otras zonas.

Según CAT-OC Colonias nada ha cambiado desde entonces, razón por la continúan con unas demandas que alcanzan todos los niveles de su trabajo voluntario: falta de colaboración municipal, asignación de fondos, ausencia de una clínica veterinaria en la zona -la que ofrece el ayuntamiento está a 40 km de distancia – y señalización de las zonas de control, entre otras.

Dicen desde ASCFOC, “menos mal que tenemos Torrevieja y Pilar de la Horadad para poder demostrar que España es algo más que lo que el ayuntamiento de Orihuela muestra. Teniendo Orihuela Costa una población con muchas nacionalidades diferentes , es una pena que demos una imagen tan deplorable de España en todo, y como no, en el ético control de las colonias felinas también.

German press echoes the abandonment of cat colonies in Orihuela Costa

The lack of control over the cat colonies which has been denounced for months has been reported in the German press with the following headline in the paper edition of the newspaper for the whole Mediterranean coast: ‘keine kontrolle über katzen (No control over cats)’. The association regrets the deplorable image that Orihuela Costa is giving in the ethical control of the cat colonies.

Just a month ago CAT-OC Colonias Felinas Orihuela Costa (Ascfoc) denounced the lack of collaboration of the Orihuela Costa Town Hall, which they accused of not complying with the National Animal Welfare Law 7/2023, in force since September 2023.

At that time they already stated that ‘Despite the efforts of the volunteers, the lack of coordination and bad practice in the sterilisations managed by the town hall have put the health of the animals and the work carried out for years at risk’.

The complaints have made no impression on the council’s health department, which has received no response to the volunteers’ decision to suspend sterilisations in October in protest at the unacceptable conditions in which they were being carried out. Since then, the Ayuntamiento has only offered to sterilise 28 cats in the whole of Orihuela Costa, arguing that it is focusing on other areas.

Nothing has changed since then, which is why they continue with demands that reach all levels of their work: lack of collaboration, allocation, funds, lack of a veterinary clinic in the area – the one offered by the town hall is 40 km away – signage, etc.

ASCFOC say ‘thank goodness we have Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadad to show that there is more to Spain than what Orihuela town hall shows. As Orihuela Costa has a population with many different nationalities, it is a pity that we give such a deplorable image of Spain in everything, and of course, in the ethical control of cat colonies as well.

Deutsche Presse greift die Aufgabe von Katzenkolonien in Orihuela Costa auf

Die seit Monaten angeprangerte mangelnde Kontrolle der Katzenkolonien wurde in der deutschen Presse mit der folgenden Schlagzeile in der Zeitungsausgabe der Zeitung für die gesamte Mittelmeerküste wiedergegeben: „keine kontrolle über katzen“. Der Verein bedauert das beklagenswerte Bild, das Orihuela Costa in Bezug auf die ethische Kontrolle der Katzenkolonien abgibt.

Erst vor einem Monat prangerte CAT-OC Colonias Felinas Orihuela Costa (Ascfoc) die mangelnde Zusammenarbeit mit dem Rathaus von Orihuela Costa an, dem sie vorwarfen, das nationale Tierschutzgesetz 7/2023, das seit September 2023 in Kraft ist, nicht zu befolgen.

Schon damals erklärten sie, dass „trotz der Bemühungen der Freiwilligen die fehlende Koordination und die schlechte Praxis bei den vom Rathaus durchgeführten Sterilisationen die Gesundheit der Tiere und die seit Jahren geleistete Arbeit gefährdet haben“.

Die Beschwerden haben die Gesundheitsabteilung der Stadtverwaltung nicht beeindruckt, die auf die Entscheidung der Freiwilligen, die Sterilisationen im Oktober aus Protest gegen die inakzeptablen Bedingungen, unter denen sie durchgeführt wurden, auszusetzen, nicht reagiert hat. Seitdem hat das Ayuntamiento nur angeboten, 28 Katzen in ganz Orihuela Costa zu sterilisieren, mit der Begründung, dass es sich auf andere Gebiete konzentriert.

Bedauernswertes Bild von Orihuela

Seitdem hat sich nichts geändert, weshalb sie weiterhin Forderungen stellen, die alle Ebenen ihrer Arbeit betreffen: fehlende Zusammenarbeit, Zuweisung von Mitteln, fehlende Finanzierung, keine Tierklinik in der Gegend – die vom Rathaus angebotene ist 40 km entfernt -, Beschilderung usw.
ASCFOC sagt: „Gott sei Dank haben wir Torrevieja und Pilar de la Horadad, um zu zeigen, dass es in Spanien mehr gibt als das, was das Rathaus von Orihuela zeigt.

Da Orihuela Costa eine Bevölkerung mit vielen verschiedenen Nationalitäten hat, ist es schade, dass wir in allen Bereichen, und natürlich auch bei der ethischen Kontrolle von Katzenkolonien, ein so miserables Bild von Spanien abgeben.
