Alrededor de 100 madres,padres y niños afectados por la no construcción del tercer colegio de Orihuela Costa, la masificación de los dos existentes, la precipitada apertura de un aulario en barracones, sin accesibilidad, equipo docente propio, a mitad de curso, sin biblioteca, laboratorio o una zona donde practicar deporte, ante el Ayuntamiento de Orihuela Costa en Playa Flamenca.

Al grito de “Sin educación, no hay futuro” y “otro colegio de ladrillo ya” los manifestantes recorrieron los 500 metros que separan el mercadillo de Playa Flamenca y la Zenia y el ayuntamiento de la costa, donde ninguna autoridad municipal les recibió.

En un ambiente festivo, “armados” con cacerolas y megáfonos las madres, padres y niños de la costa portaron pancartas donde se podía leer lemas “las aulas no son fabricas, los niños no son números”, “los niños necesitan una biblioteca”, “si no cuidamos el futuro habrá un Ranarok muy duro” para reclamar que se construya el tercer colegio prometido con equipamientos culturales y deportivos.

“Esto es solo el principio: queremos el nuevo colegio de ladrillo, otro instituto, una biblioteca, un teatro, un centro cultural…”

Al final de la marcha, la portavoz de las asociaciones convocantes aseguro que esto es “solo el principio de las reivindicaciones. Queremos una biblioteca , un teatro, un centro cultural, el nuevo colegio de ladrillo, otro Instituto… Queremos que nuestros hijos puedan crecer en un entorno sano. Hemos venido a pedir lo que nos corresponde, que nuestros hijos puedan tener un mejor futuro”.

Si bien el acto fue convocado exclusivamente por asociaciones de padres y madres de Orihuela Costa y asociaciones de vecinos y comerciantes de, contaron con la presencia de representantes de PIOC, Partido por la Independencia de Orihuela Costa, Cambiemos Orihuela y, a titulo particular, de socios de Unidos por la Costa.

Orihuela Costa families demand a third brick school, now!

Around 100 mothers, fathers and children affected by the non-construction of a third school in Orihuela Costa, the overcrowding of the two existing ones, the hasty opening of a classroom in barracks, without accessibility, without its own teaching staff, in the middle of the school year, without a library, laboratory or an area to practice sports, to the Orihuela Costa Town Hall in Playa Flamenca.

To shouts of ‘No education, no future’ and ‘another brick school now’ the demonstrators walked the 500 metres between the Playa Flamenca and La Zenia street markets and the town hall on the coast, where no municipal authority received them.

In a festive atmosphere, ‘armed’ with pots and pans and megaphones the mothers, fathers and children of the coast carried banners with slogans such as ‘classrooms are not factories, children are not numbers’, ‘children need a library’, ‘if we don’t look after the future there will be a very hard Ranarok’ to demand the construction of the third school promised with cultural and sporting facilities.

‘This is just the beginning: we want the new brick school, another secondary school, a library, a theatre, a cultural centre…’.

At the end of the march, the spokeswoman for the organising associations assured that this is ‘only the beginning of the demands. We want a library, a theatre, a cultural centre, the new brick school, another Instituto… We want our children to be able to grow up in a healthy environment. We have come to ask for what is rightfully ours, so that our children can have a better future.

Although the event was convened exclusively by parents’ associations of Orihuela Costa and neighbourhood associations and traders, it was attended by representatives of PIOC, Partido por la Independencia de Orihuela Costa, Cambiemos Orihuela and, privately, by members of Unidos por la Costa.
