La portavoz socialista, Carolina Gracia, no cree que el gestor asignado a dedo por el gobierno municipal sea capaz de hacerlo mejor cuando ha sido el responsable de la recogida de residuos sólidos urbanos y es el actual asesor de la concejala del área, Rocio Ortuño (PP). Para el PSOE oriolano, “el gobierno del PP-VOX son los únicos responsables de llegar tarde a la licitación del servicio y que, a dia de hoy, la gente de la costa este viviendo una autentica inseguridad cada que que trascurre por las calle de Orihuela Costa”.

“Lo que no cuenta el gobierno es que en vez de cobrar el asesor – Damaso Aparicio – 40.000 euros, como hasta ahora, pasará a ser un gasto para el ayuntamiento de más de 100.000 euros (de sueldo)”. La portavoz critica que la nueva empresa se encargue de la gestión de la recogida de basuras en todo Orihuela. También su privatización a través de una empresa municipal, defendiendo la gestión publica del servicio, por lo que rechazan el traslado de la gestión del servicio de basuras y limpieza viaria a una sociedad municipal por considerarlo “un paso previo a la privatización del servicio”.

En un video distribuido en sus redes sociales, Carolina Gracia, asegura que “en el PP no son claros . El equipo de gobierno no ha sido capaz de reportar ningún beneficio para justificar que el servicio vaya a ser mejor , y en el PSOE tenemos claro que la gestión debe ser 100 x 100 publica. No estamos de acuerdo en que un ahorro de 600.000 euros tenga que suponer crear precariedad laboral a los trabajadores y trabajadoras”.

Para los socialistas “el señor Vegara (actual alcalde) ha venido a finalizar lo que es un desprestigio de lo público desde que en el 2012 se decidiese que este servicio fuera municipal. Lo hace después del intento del del señor Bascuñana (exalcalde del PP) reduciendo presupuesto, no manteniendo inversiones y haciendo creer a la gente que el modelo publico no funciona”.
