En la reunión vecinal que el partido que aboga por la Independencia de la Costa convocó en paralelo a la Junta de Distrito X y XI, los vecinos congregados en la puerta del ayuntamiento de la plaza de Oriol, expresaron sus problemas en varios idiomas y con distintos acentos.También en el interior del pleno,que a falta de asuntos que tratar dada su condición de extraordinario y los escasos puntos del orden del día, se centro en las preguntas de los vecinos. Aquí, un resumen de lo que se preguntó y se contestó.

El interior del pleno discurrió en dos partes bien diferenciadas. Por una parte, los políticos presentes centraron sus intervenciones en asuntos sobre reglamento, calendario para futuras convocatorias, forma de presentar las preguntas de los representantes vecinales y otros asuntos administrativos.

Seguridad ciudadana

Tuvo que ser una representante vecinal, Edna Ruiz, la que entrara en las cuestiones que importan a los vecinos de la costa. La pregunta de la representante fue sobre si los problemas de seguridad  que afectan al litoral tienen que ver con la sustitución del jefe de policía de Orihuela, para asegurar que en la zona, «toda la gente que yo conozco me cuenta dificultades con este problema«.

El concejal de la costa, Manuel Mestre (VOX) negó cualquier relación e invitó a la vecina a presentar su pregunta por escrito, lo que extendió a todos los que intervinieron.

LA REGIA, muy abandonada

Rosario Menéndez amplió laseguridad a su barrio, La Regia, que describe como muy abandonada. «Hay una farola que está en el camino hacia el puente que lleva años rota y nadie la arregla. Estamos sin limpieza y sin nada, sales a la calle y da miedo pasear». Mestre, reconoció que tenia razón y prometió una solución pronto.

A vueltas con los baches

La señora Newman hizo un esfuerzo con su castellano para expresar claramente su opinión: «sus carreteras son peligrosas para todos, están llenas de baches«. El concejal de la costa manifestó que hay una campaña para reparar de urgencia los baches.

El tasazo de la basura y su variante belga

Un vecino de nacionalidad belga, preguntó por la razón de pagar 101 euros al semestre cuando el año pasado pagó 35 y se preguntó porque en su casa de Bélgica, de similares características, paga 70 euros al año mientras que en Orihuela Costa va a pagar 202 euros desde este mismo año.

El concejal de la costa achacó la subida a una directiva europea y vaticino, sin conocer si el pueblo belga del vecino aplica correctamente la tasa o no – es decir, cobrar lo que realmente cuesta sin aplicar bonificaciones políticas, algo habitual en muchos municipios españoles-, que cuando vuelva a Bélgica se va a encontrar con la misma subida.

Rosaura Montero y los problemas con el empadronamiento

Rosaura Montero dijó llevar cuatro años en Orihuela Costa.» Fue justo despues de la pandemia y la vi abandonada, pero pensé que era por la situación. Lo cierto es que sigue igual. No sabemos lo que es una buena recogida de basuras, ni tenemos contenedores para reciclar. La zona donde vivo está llena de muebles, botellas y cartones por todos los sitios. Suponía que algo iba a cambiar, pero pagamos muchos impuestos y los servicios no se devuelven».

Además de lo ya sabido sobre la recogida de residuos, protestó por la demora para empadronarse y contó un caso personal, de un familiar cercano, que tras intentar hacer la gestión ha conseguido hora para el mes de agosto, retraso que calificó como una vergüenza.

Candella de Salamanca y la «Orihuela Costa, Ciudad destartalada»

Una vecina de Salamanca aseguró haber enviado 11 mensajes al ayuntamiento sin obtener respuesta sobre el abandono de la limpieza. «La ciudad, porque se puede decir ciudad, está destartalada«. Y puso un  ejemplo concreto sobre el jardín junto al Centro de Salud que se hizo hace dos años: «lo dejaron muy bonito pero después de dos años esta sin riego, los bancos arrancados… Han limpiado la pinada hace un año y allí siguen los restos, abandonados. Eso no es normal. Cuando vengo en verano veo a los pocos operarios sin vigilancia. Falta un control de lo publico. Solo pido lo elemental«.

Mestre dio la razón a la vecina sobre el grado de abandono de la costa y prometió que la nueva contrata de parques y jardines (ILDO) solucionara los problemas poco a poco.

«Para salir de mi casa tengo que pagar dos peajes»: una vecina de Lomas de Cabo Roig

Una vecina de Lomas de Cabo Roig expuso el problema que tienen en su zona, donde no existe salida por carretera que no suponga pagar dos peajes (4,5 euros) o pasar por una rambla de Monte Zenia que está impracticable. «La carretera es super peligrosa» , aseguró, para preguntar si alguna vez arreglaran la salida por el puente.

Fue el concejal de urbanismo, Matías Ruiz, el que prometió a la vecina un calendario no confirmado sobre la ejecución de la pasarela sobre la AP7, en tanto Mestre volvió a referirse al bacheado de las calles en ejecución como solución.

Jesus Gil, de Costa de Campoamor, 11 escritos para que limpien las ramblas

Jesus Gil, en representación de la AA.VV Costa de Campoamor, recrimino al concejal de la Costa el escaso cuidado de las ramblas de la costa de Orihuela y le recordó que, tal y como establece la normativa vigente, corresponde a las Entidades Locales la limpieza de las ramblas en el ámbito urbano (todas en la costa de Orihuela).

«Las ramblas están en condiciones de insalubridad, sin mantener, con riesgo de inundación, el año pasado hubo un incendio. Son un peligro que no se atiende«, para manifestar a los ediles allí presentes que «estaba llegando a la conclusión de que los residentes de Orihuela no ven a los residentes de Orihuela Costa como vecinos«.

Residents of Orihuela Costa raise their voices to demand services and rights

At the neighbourhood meeting which the party advocating Independencia de la Costa convened in parallel with the Junta de Distrito X and XI, the residents congregated at the door of the town hall in the Plaza de Oriol, expressed their problems in several languages and with different accents, and also inside the plenary session, which in the absence of business to discuss given its extraordinary status and few points on the agenda, focused on questions from the residents. Citizen security

It took a neighbourhood representative, Edna Ruiz, to get into the issues that matter to the residents of the coast. The representative’s question was about whether the security problems affecting the coast have to do with the replacement of the Orihuela police chief, to assure that in the area, ‘all the people I know tell me of difficulties with this problem’.

The councillor for the coast, Manuel Mestre (VOX) denied any connection and invited the neighbour to submit her question in writing, which he extended to all those who spoke.

LA REGIA, very neglected

Rosario Menéndez extended this demand to her neighbourhood, LA REGIA, which she described as very abandoned. ‘There is a lamppost on the road to the bridge that has been broken for years and nobody fixes it. We have no cleanliness and nothing, you go out on the street and it’s scary to walk. Mestre acknowledged that he was right and promised a solution soon.

The potholes and the potholes

Ms Newman made an effort with her Spanish to express her opinion clearly: ‘your roads are dangerous for everyone, they are full of potholes’.The councillor for the coast said that there is a campaign to repair the potholes as a matter of urgency.

The rubbish tax and its Belgian variant

The truth is that it is still the same. We don’t know what good rubbish collection is and we don’t have containers for recycling. The area where I live is full of furniture, bottles and cartons everywhere. I thought something was going to change, but we pay a lot of taxes and the services are not returned.

In addition to what was already known about the waste collection, he protested about the delay in registering and told of a personal case, of a close relative, who after trying to make the arrangements has managed to get an appointment for the month of August, which he described as a disgrace.

Candella de Salamanca and the ‘Orihuela Costa, ramshackle city’.

A resident of Salamanca claimed to have sent 11 messages to the Ayuntamiento without response about the neglect of the cleanliness of the ‘city, because you can say city despite being run-down’. And she gave a concrete example of the garden next to the Health Centre which was built two years ago: ‘they left it very nice but after two years it has no watering, the benches have been uprooted…. They cleaned up the pine grove a year ago and the remains are still there, abandoned. This is not normal. When I come here in summer I see the few workers without supervision. There is a lack of public control. I only ask for the basics’.

Mestre agreed with the neighbour about the degree of abandonment of the coast and promised that the new contract for parks and gardens (ILDO) will solve the problems little by little.

‘To leave my house I have to pay two tolls»: a resident of Lomas de Cabo Roig

A resident of Lomas de Cabo Roig explained the problem they have in her area, where there is no exit by road that does not involve paying two tolls (4.5 euros) or passing through a rambla in Monte Zenia which is impracticable. The road is super dangerous,’ he said, to ask if they will ever fix the exit over the bridge.

It was the councillor for urbanism, Matias Ruiz, who promised the neighbour an unconfirmed timetable for the construction of the footbridge over the AP7, while Mestre, once again, referred to the potholing of the streets in progress.

Jesus Gil, from Costa de Campoamor, 11 writings to clean the ramblas

Jesus Gil, representing the AA.VV Costa de Campoamor, reproached the Councillor for the Coast for the lack of care of the ramblas on the Orihuela coast and reminded him that, as established by current legislation, the cleaning of the ramblas in the urban area (all on the Orihuela coast) is the responsibility of the Local Entities.

‘The ramblas are in unhealthy conditions, unmaintained, at risk of flooding, last year there was a fire, they are a danger that is not being attended to’, to express to the councillors present (one from each political party with municipal representation) that he was coming to the conclusion that “the residents of Orihuela do not see the residents of Orihuela Costa as neighbours”.
