El reciente anuncio de licitación de la redacción del proyecto constructivo de la pasarela ciclo peatonal que permitirá transitar a pie o en bicicleta desde Las Lomas de Cabo Roig hasta Orihuela Costa ha ilusionado a los vecinos que ven ahora imposible pasar sobre la AP7 a pie sin arriesgar su vida, pero también dudas sobre si el proyecto estará finalizado antes de las elecciones de 2027.

Tal y como informan desde el consistorio, “la finalidad del proyecto es diseñar una pasarela ciclo-peatonal que garantice la permeabilidad con un adecuado nivel de seguridad”, tal y como ha avanzado Matías Ruiz, concejal de urbanismo.

1,8 metros para el peatón, 2,5 metros para los ciclistas

La solución pasa por una conexión a los ramales de acceso del viario municipal existente, adaptando el trazado de forma que se obtenga una solución integral para adaptar un uso mixto ciclo y peatonal, con una anchura libre de paso no inferior a 1,8 metros para el peatón y 2,5 metros para un carril bici bidireccional ciclista.

Por su parte, para el concejal de infraestructuras, Víctor Valverde, la licitación de la redacción del proyecto constructivo de la pasarela ciclo-peatonal sobre la AP-7 y su conexión a la calle Creus-Crta.-San Miguel, “se trata de un paso importante para avanzar en el proyecto de construcción de esta pasarela tan demandada durante tantos años por los vecinos de la costa y que hemos conseguido desbloquear para que sea una realidad cuanto antes”.

Los vecinos de Orihuela Costa, no tan optimistas con los plazos de ejecución

Si bien la asociación de vecinos de Orihuela Costa han considerado un avance el anuncio de la licitación, consideran solo es el primer de muchos otros que tienen que darse para que la obra sea una realidad y el actual paso un evidente peligro para los peatones y usuarios de patinete y bici que se ven obligados a transitar por una vía que carece de acera de ninguna clase (en la fotografía).

Además de hacer ver el retraso en el inicio de la gestión, dos años desde que se constituyo el actual ejecutivo, Unidos x la Costa calcula que dentro de cuatro meses, aproximadamente, deberá someterse a la aprobación de la Demarcación de Carreteras de Alicante, Ministerio de Fomento.

En el mejor de los casos, la licitación de la obra podría iniciarse a finales de 2025, a lo que habría que sumar la adjudicación de los trabajos, por lo que el inicio de las obras se puede alargar hasta octubre de 2026.

Por lo que, si todo va bien, la pasarela podría inaugurarse antes de las elecciones municipales de mayo de 2027, plazos administrativos muy ajustados para una obra que tiene un costo estimado de 1.370.000 euros.

Doubts about whether the AP-7 footbridge will be ready before the elections on 27th

The recent announcement of the tender for the drafting of the construction project for the cycle-pedestrian footbridge which will allow people to walk or cycle from Las Lomas de Cabo Roig to Orihuela Costa has excited the residents who now find it impossible to cross the AP7 on foot without risking their lives, but also raised doubts about whether the project will be finished before the elections of 2027.

San Miguel, ‘is an important step forward in the construction of this footbridge which has been in demand for so many years by the residents of the coast, and which we have managed to unblock so that it can become a reality as soon as possible’.

The residents of Orihuela Costa, not so optimistic about the timeframe for completion

Although the Orihuela Costa residents’ association have considered the announcement of the tender to be a step forward, they consider that it is only the first of many others that have to be made before the work becomes a reality, and that the current walkway is an obvious danger to pedestrians, scooter and bicycle users who are forced to travel along a road that lacks a pavement of any kind (in the photograph).

As well as pointing out the delay in starting the management, two years since the current executive was constituted, Unidos x la Costa calculates that in approximately 4 months it will have to be submitted for approval to the Demarcación de Carreteras de Alicante, Ministerio de Fomento (Ministry of Public Works).

In the best case scenario, the tender for the work could start at the end of 2025, to which should be added the awarding of the works, which could extend the start of the works until October 2026.

So, if all goes well, the footbridge could be inaugurated before the municipal elections in May 2027, a very tight deadline for a project with an estimated cost of 1,370,000 euros.
